Before altering an existing driveway or parking lot, or constructing new, a permit must be applied for.
This permit helps regulate the amount of paving that exists on properties as well as reduces dust and erosion runoff onto streets and eventually into lakes. Additionally, existing unpaved driveways are required to be paved if they are altered or there is construction of a new garage on the property.
Sealcoating is not considered an alteration and does not need a permit.
Here's what you will need:
Completed permit application.
A site plan and project overview including setbacks and project dimensions.
Appropriate permit fee (no state surcharge required).
Please allow 3 - 7 business days for approval.
